        <title>CANCER REGISTRY SUPERVISOR</title>

Assists in the coordination and completion of all tasks assigned under the Cancer program standards of the American College of Surgeons, i.e. Tumor Registry, which shall include weekly tumor conferences, Cancer Committee meetings, preparation for accreditation surveys by ACS, maintenance of long-term patient follow-up, Annual Report, reporting cancer data to NCDB upon request, quarterly reports to State Cancer Registry, statistical requests and reports compiled as well as Patient Care Evaluations.  Assists in interviewing and hiring, as well as counseling and evaluating clerical tumor registry staff.
 
This is a full-time, 40 hrs/week, Mon-Fri position.

Education:    High school graduate. 
 
Experience:  Minimum one year of Cancer Registry experience; previous management or coordinator experience in cancer registry or HIM department preferred.
 
Certifications:  Certified Tumor Registrar (CTR) required.

  The registrar processes the registration for patients entering the organization through inpatient,
  outpatient, ambulatory surgery or the emergency department. Secures all information necessary for internal operations. Introduces the patient to the registration environment, explains policies, secures signatures, explains forms, completes required information in billing screens accurately, collects deposits and payments, and answers patient questions.
  Maintains a high level of billing data quality and communicates with physicians and other departments effectively to minimize the hospital&apos;s exposure to financial risk.
  Works extended hours as required to complete job functions within established standards.
   
  &lt;STRONG&gt;Minimum Requirements:&lt;/STRONG&gt;
  1.              Education : High school diploma or equivalent education/experience; some post high school education preferred.
  2.              Licensure, certification, etc. None
  3.              Work Experience: One to three years prior hospital or physician business office or comparable payer work experience preferred. 
  4.              Minimum typing speed of 40 WPM with accuracy implied. Ability to communicate effectively.
  5.          Working knowledge of medical terminology is required. Thorough knowledge of third party payers, billing requirements and reimbursement methods.</description>
