Health care reform effort likely to swell demand for delivery staff despite ailing Michigan economy

While hospitals in Michigan have begun laying off staff or slowing down hiring as the economy drives up unemployment and strips residents of health insurance, the long-term outlook for nursing, physicians and other health delivery fields remains bright.
That’s assuming federal lawmakers make good on their pledge to make health insurance coverage universal or chip away at the growing chasm of uninsured U.S. residents, said Anne Rosewarne, president of the Michigan Health Council.
